YouTube Music Officially Launched; YouTube Red is Now YouTube Premium

Posted: 17 May 2018 02:59 AM PDT

If you love listening to songs, then you’d be delighted to know that Google officially announced YouTube Music app that is set to become Google’s all new music streaming service. There’s already a YouTube Music app, but it sucks and isn’t as good as it’s supposed to be. However, the all new streaming service looks like it’s here to stay!

You might want to know what are the benefits of YouTube Music and how’s it gonna help you listen to your favorite tracks. Basically, all the music on YouTube, including videos and everything, will be put together in a much more organized fashion, with a better user interface and will offer a paid tier as well.

The music service will offer you two tiers – free and paid. The free tier allows you to listen to as much music and as many songs as you want to listen without any restrictions, but there will be ads. However, in the paid tier, the YouTube Music Premium, comes with no ads and also has extra premium features. For the cost of $9.99 per month, you get features like background listening (that’s so needed in the current app), downloads and absolutely no ads. The application has everything you need from a music streaming service like playlists, music videos, remixes, artist radio, covers and much more.

The best part is that if you are already a subscriber to Google Play Music, you get access to YouTube Music Premium as well as part of your subscription each month.

What’s Going to Happen to Google Play Music?

Since Google is now pushing the YouTube Music app and is focusing on making it the best, and probably the default, music streaming service on Android, what is going to happen to Google Play Music?

As of now, Google says that Google Play Music isn’t going anywhere. It doesn’t make sense that there will be two music services on the same phone, but there’s no way the company is willing to let the Google Play Music go as millions of people still prefer it over any other app. The company has already clarified that if you use Google Play Music, all your purchased music, uploads and playlists will stay there for you to access and nothing will change; plus you get access to YouTube Music Premium as well!

When Can You Use YouTube Music?

The company stated in the official blog post that they are going to start rolling the music service starting Tuesday (May 22) in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and South Korea and will launch in the countries like Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom in the coming weeks.

YouTube Red is now YouTube Premium

YouTube Red was officially launched in 2015, and the company has announced it is now becoming YouTube Premium!

Basically, YouTube Premium is a paid version of the YouTube app that allows you to watch all the videos without any ads, listen to them in the background, download the videos and even watch all the original series and movies produced for YouTube.

The new YouTube Premium will cost $11.99 per month and will include a YouTube Music Premium subscription along with all the features of YouTube Red like no ads, background listening, video downloads and access to original content.

The service will soon roll out in existing markets like United States, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and South Korea and will be expanded in newer markets as well like Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom in the near future.
