Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Rumored to Use the Snapdragon 800 SoC

Rumor has is that the soon to be announced phablet from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 3, will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 instead of their in-house made Exynos 5 Octa system on chip.

The story was leaked by ETNews, which claims it has sources inside the company that revealed Samsung still has problems manufacturing its Exynos 5 Octa processors.

ETNews revealed that at least the first 4 million units produced by Samsung will run on Qualcomm processors. Samsung hopes it will manage to resolve the supply issue in a timely manner, so there will be 2 variants of the Galaxy Note 3 in the future, one running on Qualcomm’s System on Chip and the other variant will have an Exynos 5420 Octa inside.

The Exynos 5420 is an upgraded version of the 5410 model used in the Samsung Galaxy S4, offering better overall performance. But the Exynos 5420 is flawed with design issues that lead to over heating, according to ETNews sources, hence Samsung’s delay in manufacturing them in a timely fashion.

Sammobile already leaked two sets of specs for the Galaxy Note 3, the SM-N900 version running on the Exynos 5 Octa and the SM-N9005 with the GPU/CPU unconfirmed. It is very probable that the  SM-9005 will run on the Snapdragon 800 platform, but we have no official announcement from Samsung at the moment.

What we know is that the Galaxy Note 3 will be available in 3 colors -Black, White and Pink, the screen will be a 5.68 inches wide Super AMOLED Full HD  unit with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, it will feature a 13 MP snapper and a 3200 mAh battery. The Snapdragon 800 version will feature LTE connectivity, while the Exynos 5 Octa is still a mystery.

Asphalt 8: Airborne Out Now on Google Play

Posted: 22 Aug 2013 07:23 AM PDT

asphalt 8: AirborneIf you live your life a quarter mile at a time you probably love racing games… and Vin Diesel. If you've got oil running through your veins today is your lucky day as Gameloft has unleashed the beast on Google Play with Asphalt 8: Airborne.

Asphalt 8: Airborne is the latest game in the popular Asphalt franchise, and as the title implies, things are a little different this go round. For starters, Gamelofts using a new engine to power the game which basically means everything is going to look better, and the cars should be more responsive and realistic. Well, responsive anyway as going "Airborne" in your car isn't the most realistic thing unless you're a horrible driver or a stuntman.asphalt8-2By the numbers, Asphalt 8: Airborne offers up 47 high-end cars, 9 exotic locales to race through, 8 seasons, 180 events, and simultaneous multiplayer for up to 8 people as well as ghost challenges. There also seem to be a few new game modes to boot with Infected and Drift Gate mode. Needless to say, there seems to be plenty to do in the world of Asphalt 8, so fans of the franchise should be pleased.
asphaltThe Asphalt series has always been popular on Android, and Asphalt 8: Airborne looks to continue the trend. The whole "airborne" aspect of the game may seem a little ridiculous to some, but it looks like good fun if you dig these types of games. If you're ready to give it a run, you can pick up Gameloft's Asphalt 8: Airborne for $0.99 on Google Play.
